Today you become a dragon and officially enter 6th grade at Alliance Christine O'Donovan Academy! We are blasting off into the new school year at full speed! When you visit my blog every class, you will see the digital agenda. A digital agenda will tell you the Do Now, Objectives, Standards, and all directions for the Independent, Collaborative and Direct Stations.
Objectives:
Given an Ice Breaker worksheet and a Coat of Arms worksheet, SWBAT get to know more about one another and each other’s names.
SWBAT work
collaboratively in groups to establish class norms.

explain the expectations in their English and Literacy class in speaking and
writing.

demonstrate how Blended Learning is structured and how they transition from
station to station, in addition to the #s and colors associated with the model.
Standard:
Reading 2.4 Comprehension and Analysis
of Grade-Level- Appropriate Text:
Clarify an
understanding of texts by creating outlines, logical notes, summaries or
reports.
Do Now (5 mins):
Read the letter from my former student. On your piece of scratch paper write at least 5 rules you think we should have in our class to be successful this year.
Ice Breaker (15 mins):
We will get to know one another's names by playing "Who Am I?".
Syllabus Review (30 mins):
We will read and discuss the syllabus, which contains the descriptions and expectations for English class this year!
Blended Learning Overview (20 mins):
We will discuss what BLAST is and how it will look in our classroom!
Coat of Arms (20 mins):
You will decorate your star to represent your identity, a theme we will be learning about in our first literature unit!
Handbook Scavenger Hunt (30 mins):
You will work with a partner to answer questions using the Student Handout at the beginning of your agenda. Don't forget to also write the page # and highlight where you found the answer.
