Digital Agenda: Thursday, October 31st and Friday, November, 1st!


Do Now (10 mins):
First, copy your homework in your Agenda:
1. Read and answer the activities for "Lions and Tigers, How Are You?" and "What 12 Tigers Tell Us" from your Mailbox.

Write the question and answer on p. 33L of your Interactive Notebook.
  1. What is Masha Hamilton's purpose in "The Camel Library?" Use evidence from the text to explain why.


   Hint: (Is she trying to entertain the reader?  Provide information? Persuade the reader? Explain how to do something?)

On the left side of your desk, make a pile of your "Camel Library" article, Nonfiction notes, and open Agenda.  I will check this while you are working.

1. Highlight and Annotate "The Camel Library" and answer the Questions on your Nonfiction Notes.
2. Read and do the activities for "A Free Ride to School" and "The Lost City"

Write the sentence and answer on p. 32L of your Thinking Notebook.

What is the ad appealing to and what persuasive strategy is being used?  Use your notes to help you figure it out!



The ad appeals to (pathos/logos/ethos) , and it uses the (avant garde, plain folks, bandwagon, etc) strategy.

On the left side of your desk, leave your Agenda open.  I will check this while you are working.
