Digital Agenda: Thursday, 8/15 & Friday, 8/16!


Do Now (10 mins):
First, copy your homework in your Agenda.


Write the question and answer in complete sentences on page 4L of your Interactive Notebook. 
  1. Why is Twilight considered fantasy genre?
  2. Why is The Diary of Anne Frank in historical fiction genre?

On the left side of your desk, leave your Agenda open.  I will check this while you are writing.

Objectives:  Students will...

identify the forms and characteristics of fiction and first- or third-person narration by reading historical fiction, narratives, and poetry by creating a group presentation.

Standards:

Reading 3.1 Structural Features of Literature: Identify the forms of fiction and describe the major characteristics of each form.

Collaborative Station (45 mins):

Your group will be assigned a genre and must create a poster using the guidelines and rubric  Each member will have a role:

-Group Leader: Leads the group in getting started, keeps group focused and productive.
-Materials Manager: Gets materials and supplies
-Presenter: Shares poster with the class on Monday/Tuesday.
-Recorder: Writes and illustrates the poster.


Independent (45 mins):


  1. Go to teenbiz3000.com
  2. Type your username (5 digit number in lower left-hand corner) and password from your EdElements card
  3. Look at the photo and read the caption
  4. Click on Courses
  5. Click on English and Literacy
  6. Click on TeenBiz Sign In
  7. Choose your class period from the drop down menu
  8. Read each passage and answer each question
  9. Remember, try your best!  The better you do, the more questions you get!
