Digital Agenda: Thursday, 9/12 and Friday, 9/13!


Do Now (10 mins):
First, copy your homework in your Agenda:
1. Finish your 5 step lesson cycle for "Butterflies on the Rise" article at home.

Next, copy the question.  Answer on p. 14L of your Interactive Notebook.  

  1. What do you know about poetry? What are the paragraphs and phrases called?  

On the left side of your desk, make a pile of  your open Agenda and be ready to turn to your Glossary.  I will check this while you are writing.

Objectives:  Students will...

Identify and interpret figurative language and words with multiple meanings by recording words in their Glossary, and representing contextual meaning through words or pictures.

Define how tone or meaning is conveyed in poetry through word choice, figurative language, sentence structure, line length, punctuation, rhythm, repetition, and rhyme by annotating and highlighting a Google Document.

Independent (45 mins):

  1. Log in to your blastla account on gmail https://www.google.com/a/blastla.org/ServiceLogin?continue=http%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fa%2Fblastla.org%2F%23&continue2=http%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fa%2F%7B%7Bdomain%7D%7D%2F&service=writely&ul=1
  2. Click on Drive
  3. Click "___ Period Shared With Me"
  4. Click the document called "Poetry Activity 1"
  5. Click on File and Make Copy
  6. Rename it by deleting the words "Copy of" and typing your first and last name
  7. Follow the directions on the document to highlight and annotate
  8. When you are finished, close the document
  9. Click "My Drive"
  10. 2 finger click the document you just created
  11. Click "Move To" and select your folder from your period
  12. You have now completed and turned in your assignment

Next, click Save As and Word Document
Complete the activity as a Word Document
When finished, press Save As
Add your first and last name before the document name
Save it on the Desktop
  1. When you finish, go to teenbiz3000.com
  2. Your new username is the first letter of your first name, your last name, and your ID number with no spaces.
  3. Your password is the 5 digit number from your Agenda
  4. Example-       username: khansen16579           password: 16579
  5. Choose English and Literacy from the dropdown menu
  6. Click on "Start Lesson"
  7. Vote in the "Before Reading Poll" and explain your choice in a complete sentence
  8. Read and listen to all vocabulary words, then close that window
  9. Read and listen to the article using your headphones.
  10. Click "Next" and complete the activity
  11. Vote in the "After Reading Poll" and look at the results
  12. Click "Next" and complete the thought question, be sure to use evidence to prove your ideas.
Exit Ticket
Write the answer to this question on your Exit Ticket.
